How many Rotarians know the Rotary Awards for Vocational Excellence were inaugurated in 1982 ? Then adopted by Rotary International . It was invented by the Rotary District 9685 (Australia) Vocational Service Committee.  The first Awards were presented to three candidates at the 1983 District Conference in Bathurst by PDG Graham Turnidge.

The concept was accepted by the Clubs of District 9685 by Rotary International in subsequent years as an integral part of their Vocational Service program.

RCMCP had selected three personalities for the year 2018.
Known , Well known and unknown was the criteria set by the BOD.

Mayank Gandhi : Shiksha ,Diksha , Bhiksha Paramo Dharam

Mayank Gandhi is a very well known face. He was with AAP in their teething years . He was previously a member of core committee in the India Against Corruption movement and a National Executive Member of the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP). He has been a close associate of Arvind Kejriwal . He thought a party with a difference genuinely wanted to do something for the Nation. Unfortunately, It was nothing but deception. Mr.Gandhi himself admitted that he made a mistake by entering in to politics. In short time he could sense that how power can change a person overnight!!  This was the turning point. He said bye bye to politics and went to his own spiritual journey. One day one sad news story he read and he made up his mind , Again he entered in a rim but this time it was Social services. He is an activist from India.
Many people often describe Mayank as a rare combination of a man who thinks on his feet while feeling with his heart. He has been constantly striving to build a better India through his activism and is now working with transformative projects such as Global Parli,Nation First and Via 71.Professional Career
Mayank was earlier an urban planner and used to engage with various entities in different cities of the world on inner city development in various developed and developing countries. He was part of the team that worked for preparing a law and process to remake Mumbai using cluster development model. The Chicago-based CTBUH, the largest not-for-profit body of planners and architects in the world appointed him as part of their advisory council.
Anti Corruption Activism
He got involved in activism since 2003 and was part of the drafting of the Maharashtra RTI along with Anna Hazare and was instrumental in other major structural reforms in the country.
In 2011, he joined the team that launched the India against Corruption (IAC) movement and was a Core Committee in this seminal movement. He led this extraordinary movement in Maharashtra. When the movement morphed into a political party (Aam Aadmi Party – AAP), he was part of the highest body viz. the National Executive with responsibility of Maharashtra.
In November of 2015, realizing his inability to continue with politics without compromising his idealism, he quit politics completely.
GLOBAL PARLI:
The 2016 drought of Marathawada and the multiple suicides by farmers led to Mayank starting a rural transformation mission called Global Parli. For this work, he selected the highest suicide and drought-prone region of Marathawada. Within Marathawada, he zoomed down to selecting its worst district- Beed. And within Beed, Parli was the worst-hit taluka (Irrigated area – 1.72% against National Average of 40%). 15 of the most drought-hit and poor villages that were contiguous, were selected – whose average family income was 3,500 pm. Recognizing that life in these villages were like a multiple organ failure and one had to work on all the parts of life at the same time, he and his team, he started working on 360° developments including water management, economic growth, education, health, social reform, community building etc.The goal of this mission is to create multiple models of transformation that could be replicated across the country for a better India.
The last 2 years have achieved unprecedented success in transforming the mindset of the people and changing the quality of their lives. The project is poised to increase the income of the farmers by a factor of ten and will be ready for replication in the next three years.

A group of youths, led by Mayank Gandhi has started the struggle against the misuse and abuse of various benefits that the poorest of the poor are supposed to get in the healthcare and education sector. The team is working on policy level changes, day-to-day injustices and judicial interventions to get admissions to poor in hospitals and free healthcare.
VIA 70:
Mayank Gandhi has been a fierce proponent of decentralization of power and had earlier worked on laws and experiments for the same. He has now created an app called VIA 70 for the citizens of ward no 70 of Mumbai Municipal Corporation where the inhabitants can download the same and get complete information on the budget of their area, rate the quality of municipal works and make complaints among other tasks. This is a replicable model that will be scaled up in different urban areas of the country, based on the 74th Amendment for urban decentralisation.
